I've been wanting a dog for a very long time. And I really wanted to wait till I had my own place or something. But with work not going as I'd like, I found myself getting depressed about it. Things being out of my hands. Also it seems everyone has their boyfriends girlfriends or getting married, having kids. lol Just feeling really out of the loop. Anyway! My friend just happened to find welsh corgi puppies. Ask anyone, and I've been wanting one of those lil guys FOREVER.

The Oakley Skateboard Design Challenge

"Inspired by the recent 2-Tone Dunny Series, our Web Creative team decided to hold a 2-Tone Skate Deck Challenge. Armed with decks donated by our friends at Arnette, each participant was given a PMS color swatch they had to use, in conjunction with any other form of black & white. There were no rules other than you had to stick to your specified color. Theme could be whatever each individual chose. Most chose to use traditional paint, but one was actually sewed"

My color was bright green, and i really had no idea what to do. So i decided a monster would be cool, and went with Medusa after i really thought about it.
I'm pretty proud of this. I ended up getting 3rd place, it was a really close call for second. I'm still extremely happy with my finished product. I usually always paint someone else's lines. But this was all mine :D

It was assigned that my team design Munnys!

Something that related to Oakley. So i choose to design Hephaestus, God of Fire, craftsmanship. Mostly towards metal. A sort of blacksmith. And Oakley is big on Carbon Fiber and different kinds of metals. I kind of think of Hephaestus as Oakley's God. :) So I decided to try and create that. It's been hard. I probably spent well over 70 dollars on this thing. And started over twice! I just wanted to post my progress on it.

Wasted a cute pair of earrings for this :(

That was the result of my first attempt! My parents helped with this one. It was right after my terrible car accident :/ I didn't really have a clear idea of what I was doing. I just kind of just dove right into it.

So on to my second try...

I repainted the face with the base color and bought a new Styrofoam sphere, bigger this time.

Hallowed it out.

I had some help with the face. Kelli helped me out with designing the face. Kind of looks like John Locke from LOST. haha. Left the body the way it was. But added the black cloth to it.

Then I began the base the my Munny would stand on.

craved out pieces to make it look like a rock.

And that's all I've got pictures of now.

I'll post more tomorrow.

I'm about 90% done with it. I have to turn my Munny in early because Saturday night I'm leaving for the Yucatan!!!! I'll be gone for two weeks :D

It'll be my first time on a plane!!!

Got an awesome commission done by Joe Vriens, picked it up at SDCC! He also sent me the high res so i could try painting it! Every-time I go to comic con I always get inspired to create! It's hard not to, and I think that goes for every artist that attends that con. Anyway, just posting my progress on it. :)

Still not sure where I'll take it with the colors. But so far I'm happy with it. Also using a new brush from Charlie Bowater , that girl is FREAKIN AMAZING. I feel like i can now paint amazing things because I now have this tool. And not just any tool, Charlie Bowater's tool haha. We'll see how it goes :)

Felt the need to paint something. So i went over to my constant inspiration Joe Vriens blog!!! Actually his deviantart, and found a sketch he did.

when i let loose and just scribble with the brush I feel more relaxed and I get something i like. haha
I know that's how you're suppose to paint, but sometimes I have other things I'm thinking for the painting then just going crazy with it and not caring.

Finally was able to paint something that I was happy with!
I always hate how I'll paint something awesome and then paint shit for months! It's like my power level was used up to create something awesome. Now I have to wait for my power to be at maximum, before i can paint anything worth posting . :( aaaaaaannoying!

So when I was able to paint something today! I was extremely happy.
It's by Sean Reilly, my co-worker/close friend. While he's mostly a 3D modeler, he's known to draw from time to time. I've been trying to get him to sign up for a blogspot. But, yea. He's been dragging his feet on that one!

Anyway, I'm loving the colors. I have this other painting I'm working on and these were the colors I wanted to use. But again, i was painting shit! So I stopped working on it. I'm gonna have to pick it up soon because Etoli gave it to me to paint. Aaaand since I live with her now, haha I can't escape it! haha :P

The image really inspired me to paint, so Sean scanned it for me :D

At first he really reminded me of Kisame Hoshigaki, from Naruto. So I kept thinking "blue" lol
I just went with it. I'm pretty pleased. :)

SDCC : Day 5

Wow, so my first day of comic-con was spent in Hall H. Got in line around 8:30am for the 3D panel, that started at 11pm. I was one of the last five people allowed inside for the Disney Panel. Lots of angry people. So it was...
Disney panel - Alice in Wonderland, Tron, and Christmas Carol.
Tim Burton is a funny man. Brought his buddy Johnny Depp to the panel. nice surprise!
Tron was awesome. I haven't seen the first one. But from what i saw on their panel. It's something I must do.
Christmas Carol is gonna be very dark. Really crazy animation.

Summit Studios- Astro Boy, Sorority Row, and New Moon
Astro boy looks pretty cool. After seeing the trailer I'm really interested in seeing it.
Soroity row- ehh it looks like Scream!
New Moon- GOD, freakin fan girls. terrible. I kind of felt that the actors for Edward and Bella were on something. Edward didn't make any sense. Bella kind of did, but she was really twitchy. Jacob was a fuckin TOOL. really, only talked about his body. Alice was really they only redeeming cast out of the four. Spoke well and knew what she was talking about.

Crazy, preview day was a complete clusterfuck!
Geez, it's suppose to be the dead day. lol oh well. I was able to get books from David Colman, Sanford Greene, Ryan Benjamin, The Torch Tiger, and Sean Galloway's book along with his vinyl of Kuta. I'm glad I talked myself into getting the vinyl, I'm definitely happy with it. Can't wait to put Kontra on it and takes pictures :D

I'm trying to upload pictures now, but the connection SUCKS! I took pictures of the Udon booth and Cheeks booth. I guess I'll have to do separate post when I get home.

SDCC_2009: Day 3

Today we went exploring. Walking about 3 miles. Going (random shout- John "HI!!!") from Little Italy all the way down to the GasLamp District. It was pretty hot, but it was the humidity that was what killed me. I seriously cannot control my freakin hair. It's unbearable!

Oh well...

Today, I helped with dinner. I made chicken quesadillas, Kelli made guacamole, John grilled the chicken, and Kelly cut the chicken haha. It was fun!

So right now, we're about to play some Cranium. Tomorrow we're gonna go get our tickets for Comic-con :D

Went to San Diego Zoo today with everyone. It was pretty humid, but overall not too bad. :)

Finally got to San Diego, beautiful place!
The townhouse we got is awesome. Still can't get over how nice it is. I wasn't expecting it to be so well decorated. Kelli and I got here first, so we organized everything and put everything in order.

CG con Day 3

Just finished up my last day at Cgcon.

Today was pretty awesome!

Here's a picture (blurry) of Diego, one of the founders of CGCON. Really nice guy!

Above is Micheal Zimmerman. He was interesting to watch paint. I like his process when setting up storyboards and picking one to detail up! Really nice.

Had a lecture with one of the SteamBot guys. David Levy. Man, this guy is soo funny! Really makes his lecture personal. Showed us paintings with using Gradients for color palettes. This guy definitely inspires me to paint!

Scott Robertson came back and lectured about creating monsters. Using PhotoBooth. Taking the mirror option and taking pictures with random objects, such as fruit, paper etc. Really awesome!

Mark showed his process with using photos to paint over your lineart. Using it as a guide.
He also touched on a lot of other stuff. I would list it down But it's getting late and I have lots to do before I leave for San Diego tomorrow!

So overall CGCON was great! Learned soo much. I feel like I can really push myself further with what I learned there. So hopefully after I get back from comic-con I'll have lots of updates of art :D

Well I'm gonna get going. I'm thinking I'll be able to update my blog everyday with what's been going on at SDCC. As long as we have internet access!

Totally learn great techinques on how to paint with real photos, brushes, and collaborating with a fellow artist :D

The Mighty Ryan Church!!!
This guy is fun! Love listening to him speak. Really was honest about the industry. Gave a great lession on his process of painting. Starting with basic sketches of an idea to modeling that idea in 3D, making a render of it. Then finally putting that render back into photoshop and painting over it. Painting with NO LIGHT. Which is just lowly adding the lighting in. Really awesome!

Who's going to CGcon and SDCC???
I've been soooo excited for July. Really, it's pretty much the highlight of my year. Pretty sad and nerdy, but hey San Diego for a week!!! :D
My buddies and I are staying in a condo a mile away from the convention center. Planning on going all four days plus the preview night. I hope to see a lot of the artists I follow on twitter, blogspot and deviantart at comic con. :)

CGcon is a first for me. Oakley is sending me there for digital painting, which is pretty damn awesome! I hear it's gonna be pretty cool with all the companies and artists that have been getting involved in it. should be interesting. Though, I'm NOT looking forward to the commute to that one. Good thing I'm carpooling. Should make it bearable :D

Anyway, July is coming up fast! I can't wait. Oakley is sending Lacey and I to CGcon so that should be fun. Sean actually suggested it as a conference for us to go to. It's turning out to be one of the most anticipated conventions of the year. With of course San Diego Comic Con just two days after it. Which I'll also be going to :D
I'm excited to go, but I seriously don't want to think about all the money I'll be spending there. ;p;

Anyway, I'm working on this painting. It's for Joe Vriens! I found this drawing in his scraps and I was inspired to paint it. I actually started it last year and finally, tonight decided to continue with it.
But I'm having trouble with the direction I should finish it up in. It's pretty much done either way.
But I don't know which one i like, yet.
So i'll just post it here and see if anyone has any suggestions :)

What's been going on...

This past week has been pretty busy. Not with freelance or anything, but with hanging out with friends. It's been awhile since I've had something to do every night and staying out till 2am. It's nice, but I am enjoying my Sunday of relaxing.

I've seen some good movies over the past two weeks. Up being one of the best ones.

It was soo good, made me cry a little. :) The short was fantastic too!!!

DRAG ME TO HELL:
This one was fun! Scared me pretty good, but it also had it's very funny moments.
definitely worth watching.

HANGOVER:

GOD, this movie was fantastic!!!! Loved every minute of it. Really one of the best comedy's I've seen in a long time. GOOOO SEE IT!!!

Just saw a private screening of Terminator, tonight.
It was pretty good, I didn't have any expectations going into it. So I was REALLY happy about it. Nice action and explosion shots :D
Oakley set this up for the company employees because we have some apparel in the movie. Specifically the S. I. Assault boots. Pretty badass boots. I want some :D

Well lots of new things this month!!!
For starts I got a snake :D He's a California King snake, I named him Kontra. Yea, after that old game. I'm spelling it with a "K" instead of a "C". I think the name looks better with a K.
Here's some pictures of him/her. I think it's too young to tell what gender it is. So for now, I'll just assume it's a boy.

Today, I went to Riverside with my co-workers for some Team Building. We went go-kart racing, it was freakin AWESOME. Though, I was dead last. I was scared and didn't want to flip that 500 pound kart. So I stayed back and took pictures while I was driving. I also cheated to catch up with my group haha. I ended up with the second fastest lap time. But since I knew I cheated I gave up my trophy. lol Seee, I am honest!!!

Tomorrow, Kelli and I are going to see my buddy's band INVERSE perform at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood. So that should be exciting! Gotta thank Kelli for driving. I hate driving to LA. EWW!!!

As for art work, I'm gonna start this charity webcomic soon. There's also thing other webcomic I'm debating on doing. No pay, so yea...no sure.

Didn't have any work at work today. So I finally kicked myself in the butt and found something that really inspired me to paint.
This guy, has amazing work! I had a lot of fun messing with textures and filters. It's not what I usually do when I paint. I feel like I'm still trying to find a style that works for me.
Anyway, I like how this turned out. Shout out to my buddy Lacey who gave her opinon through the process :D It really helps out, when you have someone to do that for you! Thanks Lacey!

Well I've been living in Laguna Hills for about three weeks. I really like how peaceful it is here. Nice being able to sleep in cause work is so close now :D
I recently got tuned into Netflix, can't believe I never got on to it before. It's been taking up most of my free time. :) I love be able to just order what I want and then it comes out the next day. Awesome. Netflix, I thank you!!!

I also bought Lomography's FishEye 2 camera. It's a regular old school film camera, with a fisheye lens. I love it. I just got my first batch of film developed. Here some pictures I've taken.

I love this thing. I'm gonna get the Diana F camera next. :D
I also bought a new LCD monitor, it's 24 inches. I've been wanting to get another screen for my computer. I'm spoiled at work and I'm used to working on two screens. I figured since I got my bonus I'd spend some...rrr..most of it. :D Just on stuff I've been wanting for awhile!

I felt like painting something. So I went over to Lauren Montgomery's lineart on deviantart. She's got amazing work. I love her stuff! I'm not done with it. I don't like the pink stuff. haha
I'm still working on it. As well as Kasai's work.

So I want to paint something for a friend and he's got some insane concept designs. But I'm having a hard time finishing anything that I start of his.
So I figured I post what I had.

I'm totally all over the place. I don't have a solid style, don't have a color palette and I'm just jumping from drawing to drawing. lol
The last image I was trying to go for a loose good brush feel. hah did NOT work out like I had hoped. :/

Well I'll keep working on it. I think when I finally move into my new place, it'll be easier to get into painting again. My room is pretty cozy and quiet. Not like where I'm living now.

Well lots has happened since my last post. Tommy moved out so he could travel more. He got tired of all the republicans here in the O.C. I'm pretty sure I told him Orange County is where retired-rich-republicans come to die. Though, I think working for Green Peace he got the worst of that crowd.
So him leaving, left us with higher rent. I figured I could probably find something cheaper and have my own room. Not that I really mind sharing a room with Kathy. In fact she's probably the only other girl I could share a room with. It's mostly the rent. I want to find a part-time job. But we'll see where that goes. Anyhow, I found a room for rent in Laguna Hills for $480 on craigslist.com. Yup, that's right $480 for my OWN room in LAGUNA HILLS!!!!. :) Another plus is that it's closer to work, I don't even have to take the freeway. YAY!!! I'll be moving out at the end of the month.

I plan to only stay at that place till about July maybe August. Then the people I would like to live with will finally be able to move out too. Then I'll be able to move into a new place where I get to decorate and fill the place up with my crap. Everytime I move out it's always into someone's place that has already lived there. They already have a system. I want to start my own system.

So that's where I'm at with the living conditions.

As for art, the only thing I've started painting is Kelli's tattoo drawing she did for Tommy.
I call her the Death Siren. I guess Tommy wanted a Zombie Siren thing. lol He better get it tatted!!!

I was going for a vintage comic book feel. I kind of wanted a watercolor look to it too. I'm really happy with it. This is the first time I used a texture over my painting (from cgtextures.com). I'm finally starting to get out of my art funk that I've been in since July.

In other news, the last post of "Walking with my Son" got me a job for the rest of the year.
I'll be coloring a webcomic once a week. So that should be fun. I'm excited for it.

Holy crap, I'm finally posting something. Geez, it feels like it's been forever since I last posted something. So here's what's new for 2009.
I finally moved into my apartment. I live with four awesome people, a chinchilla, a guinea pig, a stray dog name Toki, and a black gold fish name Vodka (who is coming on saturday). It's a big place, so we all live happily :D
Umm, other then that nothing major. I had a great Christmas and a fan-fucking-tastic news year's eve. First time ever getting drunk (10 shots of vodka and whiskey will do that to you). I also got sick that night and next day but hey I'm a team player. I knew it was coming :D
I haven't been painting too much lately because I don't have the internet on my computer or the inspiration to paint. Though my roommate Tommy has been yelling at me to draw whenever he see's me near a sketch book. lol
I do have one thing I started on...

It's for a coloring contest on doing on dA.
I'm kind of having fun with it. Though I have to stay true the characters colors, which sucked cause I had already planned out some colors. But oh well, I'm liking the out come so far.

Well, so much for my everyday bird painting. :/
The last post was right before I left for Vegas for my sisters Bachelorette party.
It was a lot of fun.After we got back it was already thanksgiving week and I was starting my vacation till the 8th.
My vacation was for me to have time to move out. Yes, after commuting a 120 miles everyday for almost a year. I am finally moving out!!!
I'm extremely excited :D

I'll be living with four other people two of which I used to work with during my two years at Borders. They're great people, so I'm happy.
Plus they have animals. YAY
I'm gonna miss Baby though :(

Wow, two posts of art in 24 hours. I'm on a roll lol
Since I didn't have anything to do today at work. I figure I'd paint something. I've recently have been clued to blogger sites. I get soo inspired and I just want to make something pretty :D
So I think I've decided to try and do a speed paint of the birds of prey, everyday till I run out on the list that Wikipedia has. I want them to be similar to the one I painted for my banner(which was done two years ago).
So here's my second painting. A Seahawk also know as Osprey.

This one was done in 30 minutes.

Ah well I haven't really been working on anything other then Oakley work and my sister wedding stuff. This past week I finished my sister's wedding guestbook and her photo montage that will be played at the reception.
Anyway, I got this freelance gig a while back and I've been having trouble finding time to finish it. Luckily there's no dead line on this so, I can take my time with it!
I'm liking how it's turning out, and so does the artist who hired me as his colorist. :)
It's suppose to be depress, I think. I'm just going off with what the script reads. I still have a lot I want to try and do. I know I'll have more time when i move out

My Trip to Pixar

I've been wanting to post this journal for awhile over at dA. But it's such a pain to post pictures with their system. Blogger makes it so much easier :D
Anyway, I'm sure a lot of artists have heard of the Totoro Forest Project. If you haven't, it was a fund raising auction to save a forest in Japan. It wasn't just any forest, it was the forest Miyazaki used as reference for his film My Neighbor Totoro.
I had heard about the fundraiser from deviantart.com, one of the artist had posted his piece he was contributing to the auction. I followed the link he had in the description and thus stalked the Totoro forest blog lol jk. I actually just kind of blow it off. It wasn't until Kelli and I went to Comic-con San Diego that I really found out more about it. I went over the the OUT of Picture booth and noticed they had this huge poster for TFP. It was there that I met Daisuke “dice” Tsutsumi and Micheal Knapp. Dice was pretty much in charge of the whole fundraiser. Once I found out more about the event I started checking out the site more for updates. It was by chance that I caught it on the day they started selling tickets to the auction. Which was being held at Pixar Studios. I was thinking, "man I wanna go to that." Figured what the hell, why not. Kelli would go with me. So I emailed Kelli asking her if she wanted to go. She called me back and was totally down for the road trip. When we pressed refresh on the website the $100 dollars tickets were sold out. The ones left were the $200/300/and $500. I was like "WTF!!!" The tickets were selling fast so Kelli and I were both like fuck it, when is something like this ever gonna come up again. So w
e each bought our tickets. Everything was sold out within two days.

Kelli and I made our 7 hour drive to San Francisco, well I drove she slept.>/
The drive wasn't that bad, it was the actual driving in San Fran with the whole one way streets that made it bad. One way streets are fuckin stupid, whoever design that city should be slapped. I drove against traffic twice, well the second time I caught myself. But DAMN, did that city stress me out. Anyway, we did some site seeing to kill time before we had to get ready for the auction. When we got there it was like walking into scenes of the different pixar movies. It was really awesome.

Pixar is huge, i think it's 6 arcs and they are still expanding. Kelli and I were totally lost. Everyone seemed to know everyone. We were just two girls who happened to find out about it. I saw John Lasseter, he was the only one I recognized. (his back is facing me)

Pictures weren't allowed, security even checked my camera, sooo yea...I'm a very resourceful kit. that's all I'm gonna say.

The event was really awesome and something I'm very glad I was able to be a part of. Kelli and I ended up meeting the head of HR and the head of PR for Pixar. I picked a table they were sitting at and started chatting with them. :D Very nice women.
Well I think I've said enough. It was fun, probably the only chance I'll ever get into Pixar lol

Oh and I was able to get a print and two Totoro Forest books. I can't believe how rare these books are now. I also can't believe how some greedy bitches are selling it for over 100 dollars. :sigh: oh well. The auction was a huge success.

Many people did not imagine this was set up so beautifully. Food was great. Lots of great drinks like Sake and plum wines.. and of course.. ART WAS FANTASTIC!

We sold all 205 pieces of art work donated for this project. We made over $200,000 which actually was twice as much as we were shooting for. The energy was insane. A full of spirit of human generosity. People were really excited. People were really happy."

I'm not crazy into politics. In fact, I wasn't even registered to vote up until a couple of months ago (peer pressures a BITCH). I try and make it a point not to discuss it. Especially when I'm with my friends or Family, because no one can ever be wrong when it comes to talking about what they believe in(which is fine). I just don't like getting in to arguments when it comes to stuff like politics. Unless I know I'm talking to someone who doesn't take it personal, which in many cases in NOT the case. So I'm usually like "Fuck it".
But this video I came across really inspired me to share it with the people that do read my journals.

I think it's neat to see the people that come together to make shit happen. I was very surprised to see the number of actors in that video. I wonder how many of them actually feel the harsh times that's going on right now, with the salary they ALL make (minus the three regular people in the video).
I'm not trying to talk shit about the vid. I really do like it. But I also think that if every major "famous person" donated 20% or fuck, maybe just 5% of their salary for the year they could probably fix the shit we're in and them some! I'm saying this cause I've seen the power of what artists can do when they want to save something. For example Totoro Forest Project!

Well man, Comic-con was a blast!!! Met a lot of artists this year. Bought a shit load of art books and prints (the walls of my cubical are completely covered). :D

I was able to buy Sean's art book and a print from Joey. Both were really nice guys!

I saw David Colman there this year.:icondavidsdoodles: Got some awesome prints from him!!! Always great to see that guy :D

Wow lots going on this month, but not only with me. There’s some new events coming up that I only just found out about this morning! Well, first off I’ll just start with what’s been going on with me. I got my buddy Alica a temp. job at Oakley. Which is just awesome, I have soo much fun working with her. I think she’s staying for about three weeks. Hopefully I can get her to post the comics she’s already been drawing of her days at Oakley. They’re funny as hell!

Overall work has been great, and I’ve been picking up some freelance along the way. When I’m allowed I’ll post some of it.

Comic-con is just around the corner. I have to say I'm very excited because this year I know what I want to go see and who I want to meet. Last year was more of getting a feel for what Comic-con had to offer. So you can bet now I'll be prepared! :D I'll be going with this year. Which should be fun, though I hope we don't meet any of her CRAZY fanboys. Just to let you know Etoli, I'm taking a bat just encase! Last year was too close for comfort. haha

One panel I'm looking forward to seeing is the Last Avatar Panel. Here's a comment from Bryan Konietzko, who is one of the creators of the series...

Sooo, my ass will be there earlier then 7:30, though I think the 2000 seat room will hold everyone. But I know for sure there will be a line.

On that note, I just found out about an Avatar Contest that Nick is holding.

I guess the contest started on July 9th and ends on the 15th. Doesn't sound like a lot of time. The prize is the top 10 winners will have their work displayed somewhere. And that's it, i think. Sounds kind of thrown together, I think it'd be cool to have the 1st prize winner get a dvd box set of Avatar or some cool poster signed by the co-creators and artists. Oh well.

Another big thing I learned this morning is that master storyteller and Oscar winning film maker Hayao Miyazaki has created a funding raising exhibition auction to support Totoro Forest(aka Sayama Forest. The Auction will be held on September 6^th at Pixar Animation Studio Campus.
You can read more about it just click the picture. I have already seen pieces of the art posted on dA. Awesome work. But BOY are they expensive. Mos t of them starting at 1,000 dollars. Hopefully the book they're making will be more within my budget.

Oh, I went to Renfaire with Etoli this year and MAN it was hot. But I had fun, I brought my younger sister along too. Kelli had this awesome outfit, with cool added jewelry. I dressed up too, just added more feathers and wore black. I also let Kelli draw on my face. haha.

Last month I had my buddies come over to my house to watch some movies. Most of them spent the night since I live an hour away from where they drove from. The next day they went with me to my dad's yard to feed the dogs. Well it was 104 degrees that day-very dry heat. Those poor guys are all coastal beach lovin people, while I am pretty much an earth bender. Water is just not my element. So the heat doesn't bother me too much only because I'm used to it. So it was fun to watch them find shade and adjust to their new environment haha jk jk

New car

Wow it's been awhile since my last journal. Nothing too much has changed, I still work at Oakley, I still live at home, and I'm still in debt. lol
Probably more so, since I got in my car accident (and my car getting totaled) I had to buy a new one. So now, it looks at though I'll be staying EVEN longer at home to get a good chunk of payments out of the way. But my new car is TOTALLY worth it.
I was able to get a great deal on my 2007 Camry :D

I've never had a new car like that before, well technically this isn't brand new. It's a used car, but hell it's probably the best I'll ever do. haha
Anyway, this car has made me enjoy driving again. Cause let me tell you, I drive a minimum of 120 miles a day. When I had my rental car for a month I did well around 3,000 miles on it. So yea, I fuckin drive A LOT!
and it's all for work!

So when I can say I enjoy driving, it means a lot lol
The car drives smooth and has these cool aqua blue lights inside when it becomes dark.

In other news, I'm going to SDCC this year. SO that should be fun.
My buddy Jeff, is once again saving me money by letting me stay at his place. THANK YOU JEFF!!!

I'm real excited cause I know a lot more artists that are going and I can't wait to meet them!

Well I finally painted something. Work has kept me busy. Well, more the drive has. I get home pretty late and I have to wash the dishes, and after that I go to sleep. So no time for fun stuff.

I'm pretty happy with the result of this painting. The girl who drew the Line art is amazing. She's got this awesome style that just really inspires me to paint. :D

Personal Note (no need to read further): So I went to a friend who is a therapist (specializing in family relationships) yesterday. She gave me great advice about what I should do with my extended-family problem I've been having since...oh...well pretty much my whole life. So in two weeks I will confront (in a non-defensive way) my grandparents on what they believe I did or whatever. I have a cousin who loves to lie. My problem is way to big to type out. But know that in two weeks I will have resolved it as best I can. I'm only in control of myself. I can't change what my cousin has done. But I won't just stand by anymore. I'm an adult now, and I have to the right to speak up and defend myself. I'm doing it on my own, I want my grandparents to know that my parents have no influence on how I feel. This is something all my own, if my grandparents are unwilling to listen to what I have to say then there's nothing I can do but just cut my ties to them. But we shall see.

I was going to write an update on my life and what I've been up to. But at the moment it doesn't seem to really matter.

As I was going through my messages on dA. I saw posted a journal. It is there that I read Sid Suarez passed away this morning. A very dear friend of mine and my buddies.
Sid was very open about his health and many of us knew he needed a heart and lung transplant. I believe it was Thursday when Etoli told me he got a call about having organs ready and that he needed to fly out to have the surgery in San Francisco.

I don't know too many of the details. I'm sure someone will post what happen.

So I will say this...

I remember the day I met you. In Brian Smith's class, you were so out going. Introducing yourself to anyone who would look your way. I remember our first assignment, I was so blown away by your amazing skills. The assignment was suppose to be something small and simple. But you took it so much further then anyone in class did. I say that because it's the only one I remember.

After I found out about what you needed. I was even more impressed by you. It seemed like nothing could get you down. You were such a strong and brave person. I remember, Etoli, Onelani, and I went to comic-con and I spotted you in that crazy crowded room. You always seemed to draw attention to you. Always having a smile on your face. And that, is something I'll never forget about you.

You know, it's hard to write this. Going over the memories I shared with you. I really have to thank you. You were really the only one who constantly said you were proud of me. Proud on how much I improved in my art, since the day we first met. And that always made me happy, because you were an artist I looked up too.

Sid, it was a real honor to have met you, to have gotten to know you, and to have become your friend. I love you and I am glad to know that you are no longer in pain.

well in reference to my last post, I got the job!!!
I've been a production artist for Oakley for about a month now and I LOVE IT!
Everyone is real laid back. My boss is freakin amazing. He's soo patient with me and Lacey (the other new girl). We're both picking up the work really fast.

Let's see, what else is new...

Hey I haven't updated this month. I've been busy with freelance work.
Which is always a great thing. I wanted to post a journal because I want to keep a record of my life after college. How I got a job and what not.

My title says "Interview" that's because I have one tomorrow. :)
I recently got onto LinkedIn.com (it's a huge networking site). I found a lot of my friends from school. One in particular Sean R. told me about a job opening at his work. He said that it deals with photoshop and that he thinks I'd be great for it. So I have everything ready for tomorrow.
I just have to have my resume and my website ready.
Then I think I take a test and talk to the boss. Then I guess we'll see what happens. I REALLY hope I get the job. It's kind of far, but not too bad. (lake forest)

today I met up with an old High School buddy of mine. It was great catching up. She's a good person, one of the few good people I met during high school.

Soo, my avatar painting was a hit over at dA. Glad the gang enjoyed it :D

So yesterday I got a call from career services over at Ai. Now I've recently decided it's best to just ignore these calls, because it only ends up with me feeling like a complete failure. My mind does that to me plenty on it's own (at least once a day). When I'm not busy, my mind will wonder back to "hey you, you don't have a job like everyone else does (that has graduated with you!) WTF is up with you???!" So needless to say I don't need someone calling me to say WHY DON'T YOU HAVE A JOB!!! Really, man I do a bang up job beating myself up over it. >: Really, I think the school only wants to know that I'm making money. Maybe I should tell them I got a PA job making a grand a week. HA, bet they'd love that! But whatever...I'll find something.

Here is what I've been working on. It's for a coloring contest. The guy's lineart is really heavy, doesn't leave too much room for color. So what happens when I have something like that to work with? I move on to backgrounds. So I have this guy jumping off this cliff looking rock thing. I'm gonna add some forest-like plants to the bottom. Right now, I'm just playing with the lighting of the moon. I'm actually excited for this. Once I get the sky done, everything else should smoothly. I've seen the other entries, and everyones looks the same. No one (that I've seen) has thought to add a background. SO yea, hopefully I'll finish in time.

...well shit, it's that time of the night. I have to go wash dishes!

So at the moment, life is pretty shitty. Well as far as not finding a good full time job. I have my health, my family (who seem to be taking FULL advantage of my free labor) and a place to stay. So it's not THAT bad. But still, it's shitty.
I applied at LifeTouch Studios. They basically said they would offer me the job if I wanted it. I would SO take it if the job paid more. But they don't so I might as well stay with Borders. Though, they've been cutting back on hours, like crazy. I usually work 24 hours a week. Now they have me working 6 hours. Can you fuckin believe that shit!!!!! I've been trying to transfer to the Borders by my house but they don't have any damn openings. UGH

Anyways, LT studios makes you drive really far distances to do a photo shoot. It's not worth the 8 dollars an hour on the road, and the 9 while you actually take pictures. They don't even guarantee the work hours. Plus their seasonal. So it's a no go with them. ;/

So yesterday I applied to at least 6 different P.A jobs. One being a PA for a celebrity. haha wouldn't that be fantastic?! well the pay would, its about $900 a week, soo yea I'D DO IT!
But they want all this experience and I'm like, "Fuck it, I'll apply anyway!"

Maybe if I tell the recruiter, I don't give a fuck who they are I just want their money. They'll believe me when I say I wont tell any one their dirty little secrets we all know they have. ::shrugs:: I'll post here first if they reply back.

So tomorrow I drive an hour to work, work 6 hours...no wait 5 and half hours (take out 30 minutes for break) then drive back the hour home. HURRAY I'm living the dream >:

So about my title to my blog. I've decided that I will try and keep this blog going. I want to see my process in life. I know I don't remember everything. So I want to keep track of my life after college. So FYI to anyone who comes across my blog. Or rather a DISCLAIMER (i got this from a friend)

Yea, I'll basically have that everywhere. I have horrible grammar, bad spelling, and laziness. So if that bothers you. Umm, then don't read this. I'm actually posting my journals here rather then LJ and Deviantart. For one reason, I don't want my friends or family to read this. I normally don't tell them what I'm going through all the time. Or how I'm feeling. But I still need to get it out.
And recently, I've been through some hell. And I believe I'm still going through it.

She already painted her version and posted it on her dA account. I have her link up at the top right. Anyway, I figure I'd better paint my version. I wanted to go with the right colors from the show. So did Kelli so are pieces are somewhat similar, though I am taking different styles with it. You'll see once it's done :D

Oi, it's been almost a couple of years since I've touched this. Ha, well it's not like anyone reads it so I'll probably just copy and paste my journals from deviantart. :D

Well actually I had a graduation party a couple days ago and boy was it fun!!!
Thanks to everyone who came, I know my place is out of the way for most people (like an hour) so it meant a lot that you came :hug:

I actually made a enough money to go on my trip to New Zealand so that's my next major event coming soon. Just waitin on my dear friend ETOLI!!! haha jk jk

I know I have a lot of line art I promised people I would paint for them. Please don't worry I will get to it...eventually :D Seriously, I will!

It's just lately I've been working more and I've had some family drama recently come into play so yea, haha if Christmas doesn't kill me then I should have enough time for painting. Though, I feel like I've lost some of my skill with my recent freelance job. I think it's challenging me to think and paint differently. Not sure. I'm just glad I have an understanding guy that I'm doing it for.

So you'll probably see me posting some lineart that just inspires me to paint. To get myself warmed up.

Oh any one know Joe Weatherly or David Colman??? I recently got both their books in at Borders at the South Coast Plaza. They might be doing a book signing. I still have to set it up. But I know all my art buddies are gonna go to it when I do have it, rrrriiiiiight????

Sorta a collaboration.

It was a sketch challenge. The first ten people to comment on her journal got a free sketch.
So I was like one of the very last ones(lucky me). I usually always ask for a fox. But I decided to ask for the next best thing.
Youko Kurama. hehe After she drew it, I asked her if I could paint it. Of course, she said yes.

Lista04, Etoli and I are in charge of 20 other people working on this production. We're in our 4th week of production and I believe we're doing very well. We have alot of shit to do. But at least we are on schdule. We only have 8 weeks to finish this! w00t check it out on dA
